I’m currently in a Discipleship Group with a few guys from the church. Each week we go through a topic and then on the last day before our next meeting we fill out an evaluation form. The form is basically setup as how do I rate myself in this area and what is my personal plan for continued growth. I tend to always rate myself low because I feel there is so much room for growth.
One of the verses that hit me this week was Philippians 2:7
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges[a];
he took the humble position of a slave[b]
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,[c]
[a] Greek he emptied himself.
[b] Or the form of a slave.
[c] Some English translations put this phrase in verse 8.
I love the footnote [a] explaining how in Greek it says “he emptied himself”
I believe that is exactly what we need to do as followers. Every day I want to live a little less for me, and a little more for Jesus, continually growing in my faith and putting more focus into living out my true purpose.
On the end of the week form there was an open spot for writing out my personal plan. I am going focus more on seeking out serving opportunities both at my church and in the community.
I also want to think about where I can put my talents and/or abilities to use. One area that’s been on my mind is my ability to put together websites and blogs. If any of you want to start a faith blog, and need some help getting things set up, let me know. I’d be more than happy to work with you on that.
Have a great weekend and God Bless!
