I made a mistake yesterday, and God warned me about making this mistake over two thousand years ago through the book of Proverbs.

Someone close to me sent a long text message, and although I was wanting to give that message my full undivided attention, I made assumptions based on the message prior to it – which had to do with a movie. So instead of reading the message in its entirety I replied with a question that went something like, “yea ill have to read this, by the way do you know when the game starts?“. I was more concerned with myself and the plans I would make for the next day. God tells us to be slow to speak and quick to listen. A couple hours go by and I get home. Sitting at the dining room table I re-open that message and begin to read it. I had no idea the message was a prayer request for a family going through a very difficult time.

I’ve learned I must always be available and consistently intentional. This kind of reminds me of our pastor, he walks around with a hat that reads CIA for this reason. I must always be faithful to God and my purpose here.

Proverbs 18:13 ESV
If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame.
