Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

I find that the light that we shine before men is the same light that we receive in Jesus. It comes from him. If it wasn’t for his light, his goodness, where would I be – where would any of us be? Jesus is the light of the world, and we are ambassadors of his truth. We are to follow him and let our light shine before men. In John 8:12 Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”. To me that indeed does not sound like this little light of mine. The light of Jesus gives me light that can flow through me, and as I follow him I will never walk in darkness, but be transformed to shine brighter each day.

Thank you Jesus for your goodness, faithfulness, gentleness – your light!

Ephesians 5
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit[b] is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says:

“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”

  1. Thanks Cole!
The Light of Jesus shines on me–and reflects from me. The closer I am to Him, the brighter the reflection!
    Merry Christmas

    1. Hey Steve! Thanks for the comment. No doubt, this lamp needs to first be filled in order to burn bright, I definitely need and rely completely on Him. Merry Christmas!
