I’ve experienced good times as well as some bad. However, when it came to real joy, I could only recall real joy from my early childhood, ironically when sin was less prevalent in my life. So as an adult I eventually came to a point when I began putting God’s word into practice and things he said would happen actually did, again and again. Following Jesus has brought the greatest joy In my life. His word proved true in my life, and as one who believes, his word says he removes my sin, guilt and shame. The more I realized this truth, the more it makes sense why I received this undeserved joy and contentment. And sometimes around midnight on a Tuesday or Wednesday I find myself unable to even contain it. Those who have known me for years never would have expected this. Yet here I am proclaiming Jesus. What could cause someone like me to go to this extent? It’s simple, I believe. And I’m convinced nothing else offered in this world will ever measure up to the joy that’s found in Christ.
Social status, money, its all worthless if joy and contentment is what you seek. Do the rich and famous appear all that joyful and content? Only Jesus can restore the joy that was lost by a life lived apart from him. Yet God is so good, he invites everyone, no matter who you are or what you’ve done, into a right relationship through his son Jesus. And it starts by saying yes to Jesus.
On the fence? Not sure about following Jesus. Take it to him, you can start with something as simple and direct as, “God I want to know you, help me know you”, and with that be sure to keep your eyes and ears open. If you take a step toward him, and you’re willing to let me know about it, message me and I’ll pray for you. Regardless of who you are, how well we know each other, your beliefs – I am not here to judge you and I am always willing to pray for you. Just let me know.
