It’s a blessing to be able to have the freedom to follow Jesus. From one day to the next we continue growing as Believers and Disciples, but then something happens. Anything from a test to temptation enters our lives. Do we continue following or is it in that moment when we decide, “I’ll try my way for a little while.”
Our adversary is very skilled at finding the things that we find important in our lives, and then using these things to drive a wedge between us and God. If you are an auto enthusiast, you may wake up one morning to find your beautiful GTO keyed from bumper to bumper. If you love your job, you may soon find yourself fighting to maintain your position. If you have a collection of some kind, it may get stolen.
What is it in this life that you love? Is there a chance that, whatever it is,
it could possibly separate you from God? (even for just a moment)
1 John 2:15-17
Do Not Love This World
15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
