According to his own word, the Bible, your honest answer to #1 will match your answer to #2.
1. Do you believe in Jesus?
Not just his existence but who he said he is (the son of God) and what he did on the cross for you (taking the penalty for our sin). Don’t answer me or another person. But with full honesty, answer him. If you answer yes, awesome! Do not let any type of fear or distraction come in – pray and follow his leading in your life.
2. Do you believe you are going to Heaven some day?
= Answer 1
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
3. So You believe, what’s next?
Acts 2 (After the Crucifixion Peter addresses the crowd about Jesus, he lays it out)
“And They Believed”
37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
“The Response, Peter continues pleading with them”
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Although they stated that, “yes”, they believed, I believe Peter continued pleading because this is a very important step. Based on John 19-21, and what we see in Acts 2, it’s time to step out into the light. As Peter puts it, Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Do not fear that by doing this you’re exposing yourself or the fact that your past has sin in it. We’ve all have sinned and we all fall short. Come into the light and walk in the light. God has a new and amazing life for you.
And you will, as Peter says, receive the amazing gift of the Holy Spirit.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
